Middle Tennessee Chapter

President’s Corner – September 2003

Sept. 16, 2003

Hi Hokies,

Congratulations! Once again our chapter has won the Outstanding Chapter Award from the Alumni Association. During the Officers Forum weekend at Tech, we received the award for the 6th straight year. This is due to the continuing efforts of our members to uphold the name of Virginia Tech in our community.

The big hit of the forum was really twofold. Our adoption of the Nashville Hokie Bird was a extremely popular as well as our support of 101st. We received Superlative awards for both projects. The people present from the corps were very appreciative of our 101st project.

You will be interested to know that our turkey donation project has turned into “ Hokie Bird Fights Hunger “. This is going to be a national project for the alumni association. All chapters are being encouraged to follow our lead in helping the needy in each community.

The Tampa chapter named the project, but it was something we were doing years before and the whole chapter should be really proud.

The September board meeting was cancelled due to President Bush being next door at the Loew’s Vanderbilt on the same night. We will reconvene at the usual time and place in October.

It’s football time again so please check out the calendar on our website for game watching parties. Hope to see everyone on Thursday for the Texas A&M game.

Go Hokies!!!!!!!!
