President’s Corner – May 2003

 

 

Hello Hokie Alumni and Hokie Friends!

 

Welcome to the President’s Corner.

 

The Middle Tennessee Chapter held its annual awards dinner on Thursday, May 22nd, 2003 at Beethoven’s restaurant in Cool Springs, Tennessee.  It was a wonderful evening with a fine dinner, great company, and organizational accomplishments this chapter should be proud of.  Outstanding service awards were given to Don Wilson, Bill Ralston, Scott Hudson, Dee Hudson, Chuck Terry, Drenda Terry, John Brinker, Judy Takats, Marshall Helm, and Phil Gill.  Volunteer of year went to Carol Wilson, a Hokie among Hokies!

 

The scholarship committee selected the winners of the 2003-2004 chapter scholarship awards.  Kyle Meberg of Franklin High School and Chase Jones of Franklin Road Academy were chosen to due their excellent academic record, community involvement, and desire to succeed at Virginia Tech.  The Middle Tennessee area has nine student attending Tech in the fall. 

 

The Middle Tennessee Chapter cordially invites alumni, friends, current students, and the soon to be students and families to join us for our Annual Family Picnic on Sunday, June 8th, 2003 from 4 PM to 7 PM at Edwin Warner Park, Area #3.  Please RSVP by June 5th by either emailing Marshall Helm or calling him at 615-599-2015 (helmvt60@aol.com)

 

Also, Hokies, remember the seventh annual “Hokie Scramble Golf Tournament” is soon upon us.  Please join us Saturday, July 12th, 2003 at 8 AM at “Through The Greens-Highland Rim” in Joelton, Tennessee.  Click the link above to go to the golf tournament webpage where you can obtain golf registation, hole sponsorship, or door-prize receipt forms. The chapter’s next Board Meeting will be Monday, June 9th at 6:00 PM.  Hope to see everyone there.
