President’s Corner

Greetings Fellow Hokies,

First of all, let me apologize for not doing one of these updates more often throughout the last year. My only excuse is that starting a new job, there was always something more pressing at the time. Now that my second term as president is over, I want everyone that helped us have another outstanding year know that I really appreciate all the hard work and effort.

As many of you know, our chapter had its most successful golf tournament ever. This was due to the hard work and diligent efforts of our golf committee. Headed up by Chuck

Terry and Bill Ralston, this group met every other week for months to bring off a highly successful and very enjoyable tournament.

While we had a lot of fun at football parties and other functions, we also had our losses. We lost our fellow Hokie, Bill Frazier, this spring and I know I am not alone in missing him, his humor, and his willingness to help out anytime he could. Bill’s wife, Margaret has been helping out in many ways to fill this void. I want to thank her for her help with the golf tournament and the scholarship committee, two of Bill’s favorite things.

We also had our good times in the fact that Captain Mark Sherkey and his unit made it back safe and sound from their tour of duty in Iraq. Mark has made us all proud of the impact he made while overseas living up to our motto, “Ut Prosim”.

I am going to make this short, as I would be writing all night if I listed everyone’s contributions. I just wanted to thank all of you that helped make this chapter the best in the country. You have made my second time around as President enjoyable and fun.

Please join me in giving our new President, Dee Hudson, your continued support. By the way, I will still be around as Vice President this year.

    Once again, congratulations Dee.

        GO HOKIES!!!!!

P.S. There is one other person that deserves special mention. That is my wife, Carol, who I would never have been able to do my duties without her help and support. Thanks Carol!!!
